Mikael works for the Swedish Maritime Administration which he joined in 2005 and has a long background in IT with 30 years of experience in developing, architecting and releasing IT systems. Today a senior advisor working with strategies on digitalization of maritime trade and transport related questions. Over his 20 years within the Swedish Maritime Administration Mikael has work in different positions and are familiar with SAR operations, Pilots, VTS, ICE breaking, Hydrography and Port operations but his main focus have always been towards the Maritime Single Window.

Mikael is currently the chair of the IMO expert group on data harmonization (IMO EGDH) and the chair for the work group on Electronic Business under the FAL committee. Mikael also represents Sweden in other IMO committees and international organization on digitalization like IHO and IALA.

Within Europe Mikael is a national expert for the legislation of a European Maritime Single Window (EMSW) and are representing Sweden in the High Level Steering Group for maritime information systems within EU. Mikael is also appointed as a national expert in the Digital and Transport Logistic Forum (DTLF) within EU for multimodal data exchange as well a national expert within WCO and UNCEFACT on data modelling.
