Mr. Sofronis Theodosiou

Sofronis Theodosiou was appointed Group HR Marine Director in 2026. He brings more than three decades of maritime industry experience, spanning both seagoing and shore-based roles.

Sofronis began his maritime career as a deck officer on tankers before transitioning to personnel and operational management positions ashore. In 1994, he joined Hanseatic Shipping in Cyprus, which subsequently became Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) in 2008, where he developed extensive expertise in crew management and maritime human resources. In 2006, he was promoted to Operations Manager and later advanced to the role of Fleet Personnel Manager, assuming increasing responsibilities in crewing, personnel management, and maritime workforce development.

In 2021, Sofronis was appointed Fleet Personnel Director for BSM Cyprus and BSM Greece, overseeing crewing operations for approximately 200 vessels across a diverse range of ship types. In this role, he led large-scale maritime workforce strategies, ensuring the provision of qualified seafarers while supporting operational excellence across the fleet.

Beyond his corporate responsibilities, Sofronis is a passionate advocate for seafaring careers and the development of maritime talent within both the BSM community and Cyprus's wider maritime sector. He serves as Chairman of the Manning and Training Committee of the Cyprus Chamber of Shipping, where he actively contributes to initiatives that promote maritime education, training, and the long-term sustainability of the global shipping workforce.
